On Tuesday night, I headed to the Pavillion in Bournemouth to see New Jersey Nights with my mum and some of the Bournemouth Bloggers.
When I received the invite, I didn’t know much about the show so I was unsure what to expect. Beforehand I had a look online about the show and saw that it was a celebration of the music by Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons.
As my mum and I travelled in the car to the theatre, my mum was talking to me about the history of the music and was looking forward to reminiscing over her younger days.
I wasn’t sure how many of the songs I would know as the music was from a different era but I was surprised how many songs I actually recognised. My mum knew the majority of the songs and thorough enjoyed herself and was even up dancing away at the end of the show.
The show was predominantly the music and there wasn’t much speaking apart from the narrative by the singers explaining a little bit about the background info of the band and the history behind the songs.
Some of the songs I recognised from where there have been remakes especially used within films including Dirty Dancing and my all time favourite – Grease! The band performed the opening song to Grease – ‘Grease Is The Word’ which was written by Frankie Valli which I never knew.
The majority of the audience were of an older generation than myself and it became apparent that the show wasn’t primarily aimed at my age group but nevertheless I still had a great time and I would definitely recommend the show. I found myself singing along to a lot of the songs and I couldn’t help but tap my foot and clap along to the music
Thank you to BH Live tickets for providing our press tickets for the evening. My mum and I thoroughly enjoyed the show. If you would like to go and see the show (which is on until Saturday 3rd August) you can either visit the website to book tickets or call 0300 500 0595. If you can’t make the show in Bournemouth, the band are going to be touring the UK.
I was gifted a ticket for myself and a plus one in exchange for a blog post however all words are my own.
