I’m a self confessed foodie and I enjoy healthy home cooked meals but with working a full-time job as well as having two young children to look after, it’s not always easy to plan meals that are quick and easy to cook as well as being nutritious and I tend to get stuck in a rut having the same thing day in day out.
A couple of weekends ago I headed to The Real Eating Company for their collaboration with local company Lunch’d. I had previously been to The Real Eating Company last year for their breakfast event with the Bournemouth Bloggers, you can read the blog post here.
I absolutely love the idea behind Lunch’d which is healthy filling meals which are both gluten and dairy free as well as having vegan options available. The nutritious meals are available to takeaway perfect to take back to work or for eating on the go.
Lunch’d was originally founded in 2013 providing the boxed lunches to local companies, after proving a great success they have now moved onto the high street to open up to a wider audience.
On arrival we were greeted by the founder of Lunch’d, Oli Perron who gave us a bit of background behind the company and introduced us to the owner of Green Ponics who is a local producer of micro greens which are used within the meals. We learnt all about the micro greens and were able to try some of them and take some home to enjoy. My favourites were the pea shoots and the sunflower micro greens, it’s amazing how full of flavour they are considering the size of them.
Helena, the founder of The Real Eating Company, joined us to explain a bit more behind the collaboration and explained that the meals are going to be available every Tuesday and Wednesday to eat in or to takeaway and will be priced at £6.95.
We were then served hot drinks followed by the seasonal hotbox which was the ‘My Phat Greek Box’. This was a delicious combination of an aubergine moussaka, quinoa salad and beetroot hummus. It tasted amazing and was definitely a nice change from my usual lunch.
I thoroughly enjoyed the event and the atmosphere at The Real Eating Company is lovely and the perfect place to catch up with friends.
I was invited to the launch event with the Bournemouth Bloggers and provided for a complimentary lunch in exchange for a blog post, however all opinions and images are my own.
