If you follow me on Instagram, you may have seen that Dave and I went to Ojo Rojos a few weeks ago for my birthday. We always go out for a meal every year and we try to go somewhere different each time.
I’m a massive fan of Mexican food so we generally tend to head to one of the chain resteraunts but this year I wanted to try somewhere that we hadn’t been before. I was recommended Ojo Rojos by Rachael from 15 Mile Foodie and Tara from Face The Fun so we decided to give it a go and I’m so pleased that we did.
We had decided to go at lunch time whilst Chloe was at school and we hadn’t booked a table but there were plenty of tables available and the staff were very accommodating finding a table with plenty of space as we had Olivia with us in her pram.
On arrival, I instantly loved the intimate and cosy feel and the staff were very welcoming. We began by ordering drinks, I debated between the cocktail menu and the wine menu but ended up settling on a glass of rosè and Dave went for a beer with a hint of grapefruit which I tried and I was pleasantly surprised as I’m not normally a fan of beers.
We then went on to order the food, the menu is Mexican style street food and the waiter had recommended going for several dishes and sharing them which is what we did. We had been advised that it is a tapas style menu so there are no starters or mains and that the food is brought to the table as and when it is cooked.
To start with we chose the Mexican olives and the fresh tomato salsa which was served with warm bread. We also chose the Korean pulled pork tacos as well as the chicken, prawns and halloumi tacos and some sweet potato fries. I absolutely loved our meal and all of the food was delicious.
The portion sizes were very generous especially for the reasonable prices of the dishes. As well as the individual tapas dishes, they also offer sharing trays for £20 which also looked lovely and I would be very tempted to try in future.
I would highly recommended a visit to Ojo Rojos and we will definitely be heading back soon and I will be trying out some of the cocktails as they look luscious!
I was not invited to Ojo Rojos for the purpose of review. We paid for our own meal and I wanted to write a post about our visit.
